MOONEE PONDS

This project involved the creation of a new front garden to complement a beautiful period home in Moonee Ponds. The hardscape includes a new heritage-style iron fence, tiled verandah and bluestone paving edged in bricks salvaged from the old path. The softscape features traditional favourites such as Gardenias; Gingkos set in contemporary waves of Lomandra and Rhaphiolepsis; Yellow Stemmed Dogwoods underplanted with Ajuga and a feature pot with succulents.

‘Penny Starr Design had a basic brief - low maintenance, pops of colour and to enhance the features of our heritage home. Penny did that and more.  She turned the front garden from a derelict, unmanaged garden into something that makes everyone walking past stop to give feedback as to its beauty.

The design, while elegant and simple and easy to maintain, has enough layers to make it interesting.”
